Keywords are checked on your plan’s schedule — weekly on Track, every four days on Grow, daily on Scale and Custom — within the top 20 results. The table shows Position on the most recent check, Change against the one before, Best competitor (the tracked competitor placed highest on that check) and On the page: the AI Overview, featured snippet, map pack, People also ask and videos, marked · you when you hold them. Hover a block to see which competitors hold it.

A check looks for your domain on the results page — or, when the keyword has a Target URL, for that page in particular. Position is your place among the organic results, the way you count down the page; answer boxes, ads and other blocks above them are not counted. Beyond the top 20 there is no position, only a gap in the line.

Checks before the switch to organic places counted every block on the page, so a keyword can read a few places better from that day without having moved. The screen names the date.

Share of voice

Every check keeps who held the top 20 places, for 90 days. Share of voice adds them up across your tracked keywords: of the clicks Google’s top 20 results get, the share each site’s places would earn — you and each competitor with a website under Settings → Competitors. Each keyword counts by its monthly searches, and each place by the usual click-through rate of its position, so it is an estimate of where the clicks go, not a count of them. It costs nothing: it reads the checks already made.

A check that could not finish is not counted. If Google is slow to answer, Vidrys waits, tries again for a few hours, and then drops that check without charging it. The keyword keeps its previous position until the next scheduled check.
