Where your business shows in Google Maps for a search — not from one spot, but across a grid of points around it, because Maps ranks a business differently a street away.

  1. Type the business’s name as Google Maps shows it and press Find it, then choose it from the matches (one map point).

  2. Enter the search to check — bookshop near me, say — the grid’s size (3×3, 5×5 or 7×7 points) and how far apart the points are.

  3. Press Add grid. Its first reading arrives in a few minutes, then every week.

Each cell is the business’s place in Maps from that point — green in the top 3, amber to 10, red beyond, 20+ where it isn’t in the first 20 — with the average place and the share of points in the top 3 beside it. The outlined cell is the business itself. Each point is one Maps read from the month’s map points: a 5×5 grid read weekly uses about 100 a month, and a reading the points left can’t cover in full waits for next month rather than read half the grid.
